  • Whenever I have a hard time starting a piece of writing, I go through books and song lyrics. I find about 10 different lines that I like and let my mind go wild from there. Most writers have a hard time beginning their writings. Mark Twain said that he'd rather have his teeth pulled then have to start a piece of writing. Huck Finn took him seven years.
