some horses will buck or crowhop and some will just take it all in. Every horse is different.
I guess it would really depend on the temperment of the horse whether he'd freak out or be fine with it. some horse will leap out from under it & spazz out. others[like my 3yr old i broke recently], will just stand there and are instantly over it. haha. it really just depends on the horse & the type of groundwork he's gotten.
It all depends on the horse. I know my horse i put a kids saddle on him and he didn't do anything but htan i have heard of people sayinghtat there horse went crazy when thay sat the saddle on him. I recently jsut sat a english saddle on my horse and i lunged him but he didn;t like the stirrups hitting his legs so i like putting the western saddle on a horse that isn't broke.
some horses will not care, some will freak out and dance around. I'd advise to do it slowly, make sure they are used to the pad, the introduce the saddle, and then the girth. Reward them for being calm and standing still.
it will go crazy dont do it unless you have the help of some holding the horse on a lead rope
I have to say in this day and age,most horses having been handled from birth are fairly philosophical about humans and their strange requests,mostly these days you would be hard pressed to find a truly green horse(in my part of the world any way).I appreciate the thousands of years theory etc...But truly I haven't seen any wild horses up close for some years.
