Solved: Automatic References

  • I'm creating an instruction manual and there are times when we would like to reference other sections of the manual. Maybe something like "See Smiling in the Face of Adversity on Page 12". I still have much editing remaining and I'd rather not have to go through the entire document every day to make sure the references are OK. Does Word have a feature to automatically update the references? If so, can someone tell me how to do it?

  • Excellent!! I knew the experts on this forum would come through.

I'm not in a position to try it out today, but I'll be sure to tackle it tomorrow.

    Thank you.:bye:

  • The feature you want is called cross referencing - see http://generaldisarray.wordpress.com/2006/04/14/ten-things-every-microsoft-word-user-should-know/ from 6. Captions and cross references as an example. Or this http://wordprocessing.about.com/od/microsoftword2007/a/crossreferences.htm for word 2007.
