RCA 5 protocol + power off

  • hi,

i've bought a programmable remote control which has the rca dvd preprogrammed. it has some buttons which aren't in use with the original xbox remote, so my question is this.
is there anyway that i can find out the obc for these unused buttons and then set one to power off the xbox while in xbmc?

    thanks
    morien

  • i'm not sure what you mean 'jp1-able'. the remote is the ur74a by x10 (see manual here (ftp://ftp.x10.com/pub/manuals/ur74a-om.pdf) and code list here (ftp://ftp.x10.com/pub/manuals/ur74a-codelist.pdf)). it's programmable but also has the rca dvd in the preprogrammed list.
as of yet i cannot compile (which is why i haven't pm'd) however when i can (which shouldn't be too far away) i'll resurrect the post.

    thanks a lot

  • what type of remote is it? is it jp1-able? if so, you'll be able to easily do it if you can hook it up to a pc. (uses a parallel cable that's simple to build). some remotes also allow you to set a code for a particular key, although they often aren't documented.

otherwise, can you compile the code? if so, it should be simple to output the remote code that xbmc is receiving onto the screen with each button press. pm me for more info on this. perhaps i'll have time this weekend to through something together for you. (a remote test screen or something)

    cheers,
    jonathan
