Hmm...Is this a stupid idea?

  • Hi everyone!

    Sorry if this is long but please bear with me.

    For the longest time I've been saving up money to buy myself a Wii for Christmas (my mom doesn't have enough to buy it) but then I realized I was being extremely selfish because I'm very blessed already. However, there are many young kids who won't be getting a single gift for Christmas. I want to take that money and buy some kid Christmas gifts. It won't buy much so I wanted to get others involved.

    My questions -
    Is this a stupid idea?

    How would i prove to people who donated that it would, in fact, be given to a needy family for Christmas?

    How would I go about finding a family that actually needed the money?

    Again, sorry it's so long but thanks if you read it all and I'd appreciate absolutely any advice you can provide.


  • Set up something with a local church or a group/foster home. Instaed of soliciting money put out a large Box that poeple can drop gifts into

    Also, look up toys for tots


  • That is definitely not a stupid idea, I think it is excellent thought and well done you for being so selfless. My friend did an entire project to see where the money actually goes in various charities. World vision was the best at get the money where it was needed without it getting lost in administration. Another option would be to buy a gift and put it under the christmas tree for the needy at Target, Coles, Woolworthes and Big W. Or you could buy a card at Oxfam that donates things like, soap, food and chickens and helps people start their own business so they can be self-sufficient. Hope this helps!   • I think you are awesome! Thinking of someone else first is respectable.
    There are many charities that ask for help fulfilling wishes during the holidays you can donate to any of them and they will see to it that you make a child's day!
