Does anyone know where I could get primary sources on the battle of the bulge?

  • A primary source is something from the time the battle was being fought.

    A former soldier
    A newspaper article
    A diary of a soldier
An exact copy of a speech...etc

  • the soldiers who fought in that battle are now in their 80s and 90s.

try your local VFW and all the retirement homes in the area -- bet you'll find plenty to interview.

  • You should look check out this book.

Beyond Band of Brothers: The War Memoirs of Major Dick Winters

Its was written by Dick Winters who was the highlight of the Band of Brothers series. It is a biography of his life and there is a lot about the battle of the bulge in there. It is also a great book, and series for that matter.

  • My grandfather was in that, the 643 tanker division. You might have a hard time getting interviews with a former soldier. My grandfather was 18 at the time, and has passed away 8 years ago. There are not many of them left. Try to look up reunion pages for military people, by unit number.

You might have better luck with a newspaper article, but, you wont find them online, as they are too old for most achieves. Go to your library, or one at a university/college and go through their microfiche collection. The librarian will be able to assist you search. I have done this before, for a school project, it only took me about 3-4 hours to find everything I needed.
